Johan Cruyff quote for February 6th, 2017

One of the all time masters of soccer, his wisdom for young soccer players is so valuable.  “Our philosophy was actually very simple, and remains so today. There’s a ball, and either you’ve got it or they’ve got it. If you’ve got it, they can’t score. If you use the ball well, the chance of a good outcome is greater than the chance of a bad one. This shifts the focus to quality and technique, whereas before it was all about effort and hard work.”

Quote for the day from Ruud Gullit, February 6, 2017

Dutch superstar footballer/soccer player, manager of Chelsea as some great thoughts on the game we can all learn from.  “Whether a player is in top form or not isn’t  something you can judge from his expression or attitude, or body language.  Is his first touch good or bad? Is he offering to take the ball? Is he hesitating on what to do next? Is he prepared to play the ball forward or is he avoiding taking risks? Does he need to touch the ball a second time to place it where he wants it, or does he receive,  play and move on? Players who aren’t really involved in the game become increasingly insecure  and tend to lose the ball unnecessarily or just avoid contact.
